My problem is my great-grandmother and who knows how many other ancestors are buried in this cemetery. I was wondering if it is any safer to visit on All Saints Day in this cemetery. Many of my family are in St. Vincent cemeteries, but I know from the obit that Eulalie Boullosa (maiden), Morton Pfeifer is buried in St. Louis #2 which leads me to believe others may be there too. Her father’s line is Spanish and for the most part lived in the French Quarter area in the early days. She may be buried in her second husband’s tomb though with Pfeifer as the name. Not sure,s o I need to make a trip home to try to get to some of the cemeteries as safely as I can. I hoped that perhaps there would be officers around on All Saints Day. Do you know if they patrol there on that day?
    Thanks!

No, there’s not usually a patrol there on All Saint’s Day. I would suggest keeping an eye on the Save Our Cemeteries calendar, found here. Several times a year they have events in St. Louis No 2- sometimes they’re tours with guides in period costume, or groups of students doing work, plus the occasional cleanup. Those are days where you know there will be lots and lots of people around.

Alternatively, I’d say your best bet would be to go early in the day when things are quiet, and go with a group. If you don’t have people in town to go with, drop me a line and I’ll wrangle my fiancee to keep us company while you do your research- he’s used to it, I do it to him all the time! ;)

Thanks for the info Tess! I’d have to check calendars for those groups and such because I live in Northwest Arkansas now. All my family live down there, but with their work schedules I couldn’t get anyone to tag along last time I went back in March. Thanks for the link to the Save Our cemeteries calendar, going to check that out! Your fiancee is a wonderful catch for going along with you! :)
