I was there that day – I missed seeing this – probably because I was so shocked and depressed that the city had Arthur Smith’s memorial removed. How can the city be so clueless and insensitive???

  • Tess:

I KNOW! This is right next to Arthur Smith’s marker- it’s been there forever, but I never saw it before because I was always looking at what new and colorful things were going on with the Smith family.

I have some emails out, but haven’t heard back- do you know why they cleared it?

We spoke with a woman from ..Delagos (?) who was doing a funeral seminar with students. She said that the city had trustees from the prison out the previous weekend and cleared not only Arthur Miller’s memorial but all the silk flowers that someone had donated for the graves. It’s not the prisoners but whoever was in charge that I blame. It seems so ….well, just clueless. My friend Carolyn is friends with Arthur; she says that the city has done this before in the past. He usually returns and rebuilds, but I don’t know how well he is. That’s all I know for now – I’ll share what ever else I hear.
